Fort of Bachhretu Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh

Fort of Bachhretu

Bachhretu is a serene, pleasant spot situated on western incline of Kotdhar only 3 kms southward to Shahtalai. It is 3000 ft above ocean level. There is small old fort in the area Bilaspur at Bacchretu. The surely understood fortification of Bacchretu lies in Kot Hill. Kot Hill is 30 Kms long. The site orders a glorious and clearing perspective of Gobind Sagar and the encompassing slopes. The stronghold was built by Raja Ratan Chand of Bilaspur who ruled from 1355 to 1406. Clearly the relics are as old as around six hundred years and show that the fortification was of a rectangular shape, the more extended arms around 100 meters and shorter around 50 meters, manufactured of sledge dressed stones. From the bits of the encasing dividers, as yet existing here and there, it can be expected to have been around 20 meters in tallness. The thickness of its dividers more likely than not been one meter decreasing towards the top. The space inside was, maybe, partitioned into various room-molded compartments out of which around fifteen can be followed even at this point. Dividers of one of the room are exceedingly high, measuring around ten to twelve meters. A water tank is likewise said to have existed. An exceptionally fascinating little sanctuary, lodging two busts of the goddess Asht Bhuja and some different gods is still surviving.
