Kangra Fort, Himachal Pradesh


Kangra Fort is situated and constructed at the twenty kilometer away from the Dharamshala town. The fort mentioned the record of Alexander the Great and it also referring to the fourth century BC. The Kangra fort was constructed by the royal rajput family of Kangra state and the fort shows Mahabharata epic. In India, it is one of the biggest and oldest fort in Himalayas. During the time period of 1615, the Kangra fort resisted Akbar siege. Laterally the son of Akbar subdued the fort to forcing the submission of Chamba raja.
The Design of Kangra Fort
The entrance point of Kangra fort is structured with small grass courtyard enclosed with gates. The two gates of the fort were constructed during the time period of Sikh. There are two ways to reach to the top of the fort which are Ahai gate and second is Amiri gate. The both are attributed to the Kangra first Mugal Governer named as Nawab Saif Khan. It has approximately five hundred feet from the entrance gate the tourist have to walk or turned various shapes and angles or passes through the Jehangiri gate. Now a day the Darshani Darwaja is modified and constructed the statue of Ganga and Yamuna which both are river goddesses. In south side, a statue of Lakhmi Narayana Sitala or Ambika Devi is located. The passenger have to cross behind these statues and lead up to the place. Tourist often came here to know the ancient history of India and take the joy of ancient beauty. In India is a one of the beautiful forts.
