Naina Devi Temple Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh


Naina Devi temple is located in hilltop in Bilaspur District of Himachal Pradesh (HP) India. It is approximately 151 kilometer away from Bilaspur. It is counted as most important shakti peeths of India. The temple was constructed during the time period of 8th century. The temple is dedicated to Naina Devi Goddess. The view and architecture of the temple attract tourist so much. As per legend says that the eyes of Goddess Sati fell here and after this, the place is known as Naina Devi. Sati is another name of Parvati wife of Shiva or Naina means eye. When lord Shiva jumped into the sacrificial bonfire and carry the body of goddess Parvati. The Lord Shiva mourn the death of his wife, he carry her body and move entire the country. To save the whole earth from the Shiva wrath, the Lord Vishnu released his Chakra and cut whole body of goddess Sati into fifty one peaces. The parts of her body fell in various places which became the sacred worship places for whole Indians. The Naina lake is also located near the temple and as per legend says the lake is eyes of goddess Sati. From the Anandpur Sahib the distance of Naina Devi temple is seven miles. The temple is located on the Shivalik mountain and tourist have to walk of more than two kilometers to reach this holly place. I will take more than half hour to reach. Their is a self born Pindi of goddess Durga. The Lord Ganesha Pindi also exist here and one another one is constructed by Pandavas. The surrounding of temple is equipped with natural beauty with attract tourist so much. Tourist visited Naina Devi during all the seasons. During the time period of Shavani, Navratris and Chaitra, the temple attracts thousand of devotees every years.
